Medical professional students have responsibilities, such as facing unpredictable real situations, large numbers of patients, uncooperative patients, and difficulties with the diseases they treat. The number of responsibilities can cause emotional exhaustion, stress, and burnout for medical students. To overcome this, medical students need a “Grit”. Grit is the desire of oneself to achieve long-term goals accompanied by high perseverance and consistency of interest in these goals. This study uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive research design. The population of this study were medical professional education students in Indonesia. This study used a non-probability sampling technique with convenience sampling. The sample size used was 120 participants. The results of this study are professional medical education students have a high grit score (91.67%). Based on the dimensions of consistency of interest and perseverance of effort, the majority of medical professional students have high scores on both dimensions. In this study, the most selected internal factor was "Purpose" (27.2%), while the external factor was "Parenting" (36.67%). A recommendation for future research to conduct mixed method research to examine the topic of grit and its factors more elaborately in order to determine its influence on individuals.
Anisa Muharrani SalimaMargaretha PurwantiAireen Rhammy Kinara Aisyah

https://ejournal.atmajaya.ac.id/index.php/Manasa/article/view/5583

The impact of non-sustainable lifestyle has increasedly being noticed and more attention are nowadays drawn toward the notion of establishing a more responsible consumption behaviour, mindful consumption is a form of that behaviour. The involvement of individuals, especially the younger generation, is much needed to meet the sustainable development goals of a nation, since it is not the responsibility of the government alone. People should have the notion that their independent participations in the areas of economic, societal and environmental activities will benefit the whole nation. Therefore, the aim of this study is to verify that individual awareness of their contribution to sustainable development will predict mindful consumption. A survey was conducted on 153 young adult participants who are university students, aged between 18 to 25 living in Jabodetabek area. The results show that sustainable development awareness in general significantly predicted mindful consumption, as individuals’ awareness of their role in sustainable development increase, so does their mindful consumption. Further analysis find that the economic dimension of sustainable development awareness is the strongest predictors of mindful consumption, followed with the society dimension. However, the environment dimension of sustainable development awareness does not seem to contribute as a significant predictor of mindful consumption. This study gives rise to an implication that sustainable development awareness should be included in the education of the public in general, specifically for young people, in the hope that it will encourage more mindful consumption pattern of the people to support sustainable development of a country.
Astrid Gisela HerabadiYohanes B Kadarusman

Excessive feelings of fear characterize students with social anxiety and worry and avoidance of social situations, especially in the school environment. Students quickly feel nervous and anxious when they are in a crowded environment or public place, such as avoiding appearing in front of the class, not daring to refuse or reprimand others, speaking in a low voice, not daring to answer or ask questions, not looking the other person in the eye, and being afraid. Others poorly view them. This case study involves a fifth-grade elementary school (Sekolah Dasar/SD) student who has experienced social anxiety for the past year. The subject feels uncomfortable in crowded places and has negative thoughts about other people's views of him. Assessment is carried out by observation, interviews, psychological tests (WISC, CSCT, graphic), and the Liebowitz social anxiety scale. The intervention provided to reduce social anxiety in subjects used a cognitive-behavioral approach, namely, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, carried out for nine sessions. The intervention results showed that the subjects could identify irrational thoughts and change them to be more rational, decreasing anxiety levels when appearing in front of the class and interacting with other people in the class and school environment according to the predetermined intervention targets.
Azirna BerlianaFani Eka Nurtjahjo

Work is essential for fulfilling life's needs, including for physically disabled individuals. These individuals have significant opportunities in the workforce, supported by government initiatives aimed at enabling their employment. Despite this support, their participation remains low due to internal and external factors. Internal factors include a low self-concept, while external factors involve a work environment that is not accommodating to people with disabilities.
This research aims to provide an overview of self-concept and the factors influencing the self-concept of physically disabled individuals working in government companies. A qualitative approach with narrative methods was used, involving semi-structured interviews conducted twice. Thematic analysis was employed to analyze the data.
The results indicated that all three participants had a positive self-concept. They accepted their life conditions and maintained realistic expectations based on their abilities. Influential factors shaping their self-concept included support from parents and friends.
The various challenges faced by parents of deaf children can cause stress in parents. The stress experienced by parents in raising deaf children harms the parent's ability to care for children so it can have an impact on the psychological well-being of parents, especially mothers of deaf children. The aim of this research is to explore and understand the psychological well-being of mothers in caring for their deaf children. The method used in this research is narrative qualitative. The sampling method was carried out using a purposive sampling method. Data collection was carried out using a semi-structured interview method. The participants in this research were four mothers of deaf children whose ages were between six years old until twelve years old and who attended special schools. The results of this study show that the challenges in caring for a deaf child can have an impact on the mother's psychological well-being. In terms of self-acceptance, mothers accept the condition of their deaf children but tend to be dissatisfied with the care they provide for their children. The mother's attempts to broaden her understanding about deaf children and their care, demonstrate the personal growth component. In terms of positive relations with others, friends in the community are a source of enthusiasm for the mother in raising children. The demand to care for children independently encourages mothers to develop aspects of autonomy and environmental mastery. When it comes to their purpose in life, mothers have the desire to make their children become self-sufficient and able to communicate in the future.
Felicia Sabrina MarianiClara R.P.
College students need effective coping strategies to optimize their performance and achieve their goals. One promising approach is self-compassion, which can help students navigate the challenges of college life. Self-compassion can be influenced by daily experiences, including humour style. Humour is often seen merely as a source of entertainment, but it can significantly impact self-compassion.
This study examines the relationship between different humour styles and self-compassion. A total of 245 college students from various universities across Indonesia participated, selected through a convenience sampling method. The Humour Style Questionnaire and the Skala Welas Diri were used to measure humour styles and self-compassion, respectively. To analyze how different humour styles predict self-compassion, multiple regression analysis with the enter procedure was employed.
The results showed that among the four humour styles (self-enhancing, affiliative, aggressive, and self-defeating), only self-enhancing, aggressive, and self-defeating humour significantly predicted self-compassion. Self-enhancing humour had the strongest predictive power, followed by aggressive humour and then self-defeating humour.
Ignatius Jonathan KunardiFlaviana Rinta Ferdian

https://ejournal.atmajaya.ac.id/index.php/Manasa/article/view/5469

This study aims to examine the contributions of job demands and job resources to the psychological well-being of creative agency workers. Creative agencies often require longer working hours and higher workloads to meet customer demands. However, the resources provided by companies to support workers sometimes do not adequately compensate for these demands, which can negatively impact workers' psychological well-being. Despite this, creative agencies depend heavily on their workers to achieve company targets, and the psychological well-being of these workers plays a crucial role in their ability to develop their potential and function optimally. It is predicted that adequate job resources to meet job demands will enhance the psychological functioning of workers.

This research utilized quantitative methods and involved 106 creative agency workers in Jakarta, selected through convenience sampling. The instruments used for measurement were the Questionnaire sur les Ressources et Contraintes Professionnelles and the Psychological Well-Being Scale. The results of multiple regression analysis indicated that job demands and job resources significantly contribute to the psychological well-being of creative agency workers. Specifically, job demands have a negative impact on psychological well-being, whereas job resources have a positive impact. Therefore, even though the work is demanding, sufficient resources can help maintain the psychological well-being of workers.
Nathalyn HungEsther Muliana Kembaren

https://ejournal.atmajaya.ac.id/index.php/Manasa/article/view/5468

There are many internet-based activities, one of which is internet gaming, which, at a certain level of frequency, can lead individuals to internet addiction. This research, conducted with meticulous attention to detail, aims to determine the relationship between parental-peer attachment and self-esteem as two factors that are closely related to internet addiction behavior. The study was meticulously conducted on 38 young adult male and female internet gaming players using the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment-Revised (IPPA-R) and the Self-Esteem Scale (SES). Data were rigorously analyzed using one-tailed Spearman statistical analysis. The results show a positive relationship between Parental-Peer Attachment and Self-Esteem in internet gaming players. The alienation dimension in Mother, Father, and Peer Attachment has the most significant relationship. Self-competence and Self-liking dimensions have a negative relationship, so that these two dimensions will decrease or increase if one dimension experiences a decrease or increase. Further studies on the other psychological factors that underly internet gaming behavior potentially support the prevention of addiction.
Renisa TandyasrayaZahrasari Lukita Dewi
