According to the Decree of the Director of Oil and Gas Engineering and Environment as Head of Oil and Gas Inspection Number 183.K/HK.02/DMT/2024, Equipment that has reached the end of its design life or equipment that is 20 years old from the year of manufacture if the design service life is unknown, shall be assessed for residual life. This article discusses the residual life assessment method for Storage tanks based on thickness reduction (metal loss). In this article it is explained how to assess the residual life of the storage tank with the metal loss method, the guidelines for doing calculations are API Std. 650, API Std. 653 and API 579-1, while the data used in the calculation refers to the actual thickness, previous report, manufacture data report and visual documentation. The calculations for this assessment rely on actual thickness documents, previous reports, design data, and operational data. The results indicate that all actual thicknesses remain above the allowable minimum thickness, and the residual life assessment confirms the storage tank is fit for operation for an additional 9.8 years.
