In the oil and gas industry, the reliability of equipment used in installations must be maintained, including pressure vessels. According to the Regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 32 of 2021 concerning Technical Inspection and Safety Inspection of Installations and Equipment in Oil and Gas Business, equipment or installations that are known and/or assumed to have reached the end of their design life must undergo a remaining life extension using a methodology appropriate to the type of equipment or installation. This article explains the calculation of the remaining service life based on metal loss by evaluating the mechanical integrity of the pressure vessel. The calculation is conducted following the guidelines of ASME VIII Div. 1, API 510, and API 579-1 Fitness For Service, while the technical data used in the calculation are obtained from manufacturing data, inspection history, and operational history. The result of the calculation shows that the pressure vessel can have its service life extended, with a remaining service life of 49 years.
