About the Journal

The name Manasa is a Sanskrit word that implies the wholeness of one’s soul, heart, mind, and feelings. This name was chosen to represent Psychology a field of scientific study of human behavior related to human soul, heart, mind, and feelings. Manasa Journal of Psychology is open to any psychology related manuscripts.

Manasa was first published in April 2005 and at that time was under the management of the Psychological Communication Forum of the Association of Indonesian Catholic Universities (Asosiasi Perguruan Tinggi Katolik/APTIK). By June 2012, the Faculty of Psychology Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia has been in charged of its biannually publication in the months of June and December.

Manasa Journal of Psychology has 3 objectives:

  • To be a source of information dissemination in the field of Psychology, which includes the dissemination of empirical research findings, critical evaluation of scientific writings, methodological innovations, and case studies. All of which then can be used as references for further research as well as for teaching and lecturing materials;
  • To facilitate every substantial and original scientific work that would benefit for the advancement of Psychology as a science;

To disseminate every basic and applied research finding exploring the diversity and uniqueness of the Indonesian people.

 

AIMS AND SCOPE

Manasa publishes papers that focus on understanding of human behavior as individuals and groups which include in any organization/school/community settings in regard to their personality, emotions, cognition, behavior, and any other psychological aspects and processes, ranging from children, adolescents, adults, to the elderly. In particular papers that are relevant with current issues of urban areas, marginal, and multi-cultural groups in society within the Indonesian context.

Manasa publishes papers with quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research; field-study and experimental approaches. The journal also publishes theoretical papers; empirical study; case study; empirical reviews; reports of instruments development and psychometric adaptation; and reports of innovative psychosocial programs or policies.

Submitted manuscripts may also report results from either cross-cultural comparative research or single culture studies.
