Peer Review Process
Every manuscript will first be checked by an editor. The editor checks whether the manuscript is already in alignment with the style guidelines, template, and scope of the journal. If the manuscript is not in alignment with the style guidelines, the editor will directly reject it. Otherwise, the manuscript will proceed in the review process through the open journal system (OJS). The review system used by MITRA is a double-blind peer review process. That is, authors and reviewers do not know one another’s identities throughout the duration of the review process. When submitting a manuscript, the author(s) also must deliver the result of a plagiarism check (no more than 20%).
The editor will invite two reviewers with relevant competencies to review the manuscript in accordance with each reviewer’s topic of expertise. The review process is done by completing the review form made available by MITRA. The reviewers can give important notes to the author(s) directly within the manuscript and/or in the review form, in order to improve the quality of the article. Next, depending on the recommendation of the reviewer, the editor will decide whether the article under consideration is rejected, accepted with revisions (major or minor), or accepted without any revisions whatsoever. Each article is reviewed within no more than two to four weeks.
Aspects considered in the review process:
- Novelty of the topic
- Originality of the manuscript
- Scientific value
- Contribution to society and science
- Relevance to the expertise of the author(s)
- Adherence to ethics requirements
- Systematicity of the manuscript
- List of related references with citations
- Grammar, diction, spelling, and punctuation
- Adherence to appropriate conduct for scientific activities
