Abstract

Bullying behavior is an act that is intentionally and planned to hurt or injure others. Bullying behavior can be divided into several forms, physical, verbal, relational, and cyber bullying. Bullying behavior is caused by several factors including lack of empathy, peer influence, the need for control, family, and personal experiences. This study aims to identify and analyze five factors that influence the tendency of bullying behavior in grade X students at MJ High School in North Jakarta. The five factors studied include: personal experience, the need for control, the influence of the family environment, peer pressure, and lack of empathy. The method used in this study is a quantitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through the distribution of 54-item questionnaires to students and analyzed using descriptive statistics in the form of total and average scores for each indicator. The results showed that the "desire for revenge" factor from the aspect of personal experience occupied the highest score of 539 out of a total of 1035, indicating a strong emotional drive in response to the experience of being a victim of bullying. In addition, the desire to control others also had a high score, reflecting a tendency to dominate in social relationships. On the other hand, family influence through imitated behavior and parenting styles contributes significantly to the formation of students' character. Peer factors also play a role, particularly in terms of the need for social acceptance. Finally, low empathy contributes to bullying behavior, primarily because students are less able to understand the impact of their actions on others. These findings confirm that bullying behavior does not originate from a single aspect, but rather is the result of a complex interaction of various psychological and social factors. Therefore, collaborative efforts between schools, parents, and school counselors are needed to create a healthy learning environment free from violence between students.
