Focus & Scope
Jurnal Perkotaan is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal dedicated to the publication of original research and critical scholarly analyses concerning urban issues, urban development, and the dynamics of cities and metropolitan communities. The journal provides an interdisciplinary platform for researchers, academics, practitioners, and policymakers to examine the complex social, economic, environmental, health, legal, and governance challenges associated with urbanization.
The journal welcomes manuscripts that investigate urban phenomena using multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary approaches, particularly studies that contribute to a deeper understanding of urban problems and offer evidence-based insights relevant to policy, planning, and practice.
The scope of Jurnal Perkotaan includes, but is not limited to, the following areas:
- Urban economics and development, including poverty, inequality, employment, informal economies, housing, and economic transformation;
- Urban health and well-being, including public health, environmental health, health disparities, access to healthcare, and social determinants of health;
- Urban transportation and mobility, including public transportation, traffic management, accessibility, sustainable mobility, and transportation policy;
- Urban ecology and environmental sustainability, including pollution, waste management, climate change, green spaces, environmental resilience, and sustainable urban development;
- Urban governance and public policy, including local government, public administration, urban planning, citizen participation, decentralization, and institutional governance;
- Urban law and legal issues, including land use, housing rights, public regulation, spatial planning, social justice, and legal challenges arising from urban development;
- Children, families, and vulnerable populations in urban settings, including child protection, social welfare, violence prevention, education, social inclusion, and protection of vulnerable groups;
- Urban social and cultural dynamics, including community development, migration, demographic change, social cohesion, lifestyle, cultural transformation, and urban identity;
- Urban resilience and sustainable cities, including disaster preparedness, climate adaptation, urban risk reduction, and sustainable development strategies; and
- Other emerging issues related to cities, urban communities, and metropolitan development that fall within the multidisciplinary orientation of the journal.
Jurnal Perkotaan particularly encourages studies that integrate perspectives from different disciplines and generate findings with implications for urban policy, community development, public services, social welfare, environmental sustainability, and the improvement of quality of life in urban communities.
The journal welcomes empirical research using quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, and other appropriate scholarly approaches, as well as relevant conceptual and review articles that provide a significant contribution to the understanding of urban issues.
