Abstract

Teachers play a pivotal role in education, serving not only as instructors but as professional educators responsible for teaching, guiding, assessing, and evaluating students. Within the Merdeka Curriculum framework, teachers are expected to facilitate interactive, meaningful, and contextual learning, particularly in the IPAS subject, which integrates natural and social sciences. This study adopts a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing observation and interviews for data collection. Participants included homeroom teachers and fourth-grade students at SDN Tanah Sereal 03 Pagi. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, encompassing data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing.  The findings reveal that teachers fulfill four key roles:  demonstrator–presenting material in engaging, concrete ways; class manager–fostering a conducive and orderly learning environment; mediator and facilitator–encouraging student participation through interactive methods and tailored media; and evaluator–objectively assessing outcomes and providing constructive feedback.  The study underscores the need for teachers to continually enhance their creativity and innovation in designing contextual, student-centered IPAS lessons. Recommendations include adopting strategies that promote active, enjoyable learning experiences aligned with curriculum goals.
