Post-Publication Discussion
Jurnal Perkotaan is committed to maintaining the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record after publication. Scholarly discussion does not end when an article is published; constructive post-publication dialogue can help clarify findings, identify limitations, correct errors, and advance academic understanding. The journal therefore welcomes responsible, evidence-based discussion concerning articles published in Jurnal Perkotaan.
Scope of Post-Publication Discussion
Post-publication discussion may address issues such as:
- interpretation of published findings;
- methodological strengths or limitations;
- theoretical or conceptual disagreements;
- statistical or analytical concerns;
- interpretation of legal, policy, spatial, social, or other evidence;
- data availability or reproducibility;
- possible errors in figures, tables, references, calculations, or text;
- ethical concerns;
- potential conflicts of interest;
- questions regarding authorship or research integrity;
- new evidence that may affect the interpretation of the article; or
- other scholarly issues relevant to the reliability or significance of the published work.
Academic disagreement alone does not constitute an error or misconduct. The journal welcomes differences in scholarly interpretation when they are expressed professionally and supported by appropriate evidence.
Submitting a Post-Publication Comment
Readers who wish to raise a substantive concern or comment on a published article should contact the Editorial Office of Jurnal Perkotaan through the journal's official communication channel.
A submission should, where possible, include:
- the title of the article concerned;
- the author(s) of the article;
- DOI or other publication details;
- a clear description of the issue or point for discussion;
- specific reference to the relevant section, table, figure, data, or statement;
- supporting evidence or references, where appropriate; and
- the name and contact information of the person submitting the comment.
Comments should be concise, academically relevant, and written in a professional manner.
The journal may decline to consider submissions that are:
- defamatory;
- abusive or discriminatory;
- primarily personal rather than scholarly;
- unsupported by evidence;
- unrelated to the published article;
- repetitive of issues that have already been adequately addressed; or
- clearly intended to harass authors or other individuals.
Responsibility of Readers and Authors
Readers are encouraged to report substantive concerns in good faith and to provide sufficient supporting evidence. Authors are expected to respond constructively and transparently to legitimate post-publication questions. All parties involved in post-publication discussion should maintain professional and respectful communication.
Commitment to an Accurate Scholarly Record
Jurnal Perkotaan views post-publication discussion as an important component of scholarly communication. The journal will consider legitimate concerns carefully and, when necessary, take proportionate editorial action to: clarify the published record, correct errors, facilitate scholarly discussion, and protect the integrity and reliability of research published in the journal.
