Author Criteria
Jurnal Perkotaan is committed to ensuring transparency, accountability, and integrity in scholarly authorship. Authorship should accurately reflect individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research and preparation of the manuscript.
Criteria for Authorship
An individual should be listed as an author only if they have made a substantial contribution to the work and can take responsibility for its content. Authors are expected to meet all of the following criteria:
-
Have made a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the study; or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data;
-
Have participated in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content;
-
Have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript before submission and publication; and
-
Agree to be accountable for the integrity and accuracy of the work and to cooperate in resolving any questions related to the research.
Individuals who contribute to the work but do not meet all authorship criteria should not be listed as authors. Their contributions may instead be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section, with their permission.
Author Contributions
All submitted manuscripts must include an Author Contributions statement describing the specific contribution of each author. Authors are encouraged to describe contributions using the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy), where applicable. Relevant roles may include:
- Conceptualization
- Methodology
- Validation
- Formal Analysis
- Investigation
- Resources
- Data Curation
- Writing – Original Draft
- Writing – Review & Editing
- Visualization
- Supervision
- Project Administration
- Funding Acquisition
The contribution statement should accurately represent the work performed by each author and must be agreed upon by all authors before submission.
Example
Author Contributions: Conceptualization, A.A. and B.B.; Methodology, A.A.; Investigation, B.B. and C.C.; Data Analysis, A.A. and C.C.; Writing – Original Draft, A.A.; Writing – Review & Editing, B.B. and C.C.; Supervision, D.D. All authors have read and approved the final manuscript.
Corresponding Author
The corresponding author acts as the primary contact between the authors and the journal throughout the submission, peer-review, production, and publication processes. The corresponding author must provide a valid and active email address.
Order of Authors
The order of authors should be determined collectively by the authors before submission and should reflect the conventions of the relevant discipline and the relative contributions of the authors. Jurnal Perkotaan does not determine authorship order and will not arbitrate authorship disputes. Authors are responsible for resolving authorship order before manuscript submission.
Changes in Authorship
Requests to add, remove, or rearrange authors after submission must be clearly justified.
Any authorship change requires:
- a written explanation of the reason for the change;
- written agreement from all authors, including any author being added or removed; and
- approval from the Editorial Office.
Requests for authorship changes after acceptance will be considered only in exceptional circumstances.
The journal reserves the right to suspend the editorial or publication process while an authorship issue is being investigated.
Use of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies
Generative artificial intelligence tools, large language models, chatbots, or other AI-assisted technologies cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. Authorship requires accountability, the ability to approve the final manuscript, and responsibility for the integrity of the work—responsibilities that cannot be assigned to an AI system. Authors remain fully responsible for any content created, revised, summarized, translated, analyzed, or otherwise assisted by AI technologies. Any substantive use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies must be disclosed in the manuscript in accordance with the journal's Declaration of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies policy.
